About Brittany

Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Brittany grew up amongst corn fields and Midwestern values. She vacationed with her family every year to the beaches of South Carolina, which were meaningful trips in a magical setting. Those early trips left a big impression on her. As a young student, Brittany loved writing and dabbled in many short stories, poems, and manuscripts for fun. She spent her college years at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, majoring in Finance with an atypical minor, British Literature, so that she could maintain an interest in writing and books while pursuing her passions for business.
After graduation, she worked in wealth management and investment banking, attaining her M.B.A. while working full-time as a banking analyst, putting her writing aside for a time. She met her husband, Nathan, a Cleveland, Ohio native, and they moved several times together before finding a special opportunity that moved them to the lowcountry of South Carolina. Two of their three sons were born there, and their curiosity and excitement inspired Brittany to start writing down their experiences.
A few ideas jotted down became manuscripts that turned into stories that Brittany wanted to share with others. Brittany now resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, but still visits the lowcountry often with her boys.

Not just authors and illustrators, Brittany and Cait are also sisters-in-law that teamed up to bring Stuck in the Mud to readers everywhere. Between the two of them, they are moms to seven children (Brittany has 3, and Cait has 4) and both of them brought a baby into the world while working on this book. The protagonist of the story, Jonathan, is Brittany's son and Cait is his Godmother.
